Sometimes the success comes out of nowhere, and sometimes the setbacks come out of nowhere.

And we've experienced a bit of both.

Firstly, I meet a lot of players.

And I've spoken to several players, not just Sam Verrills.

That was just the one someone took a photo of the other day.

I mean, I get asked to talk to a lot of players, some that I'm probably not even considering signing, but I do it as a favour to managers or the players.

Some players are looking for advice or direction.

I talk to a lot of people.

I talk to a lot of players.

So far as the Metcalfe situation, Metcalfe was obviously over at the Warriors, all right, and he suddenly became available for whatever reason.

The Warriors decided he could go, I think.

It would probably be remiss of me if we didn't investigate and see what that entailed.

I knew Lech Metcalfe.

He played with my son at Cronulla many, many years ago, so it was an easy conversation to have.

And very, very quickly we decided, well, no, that's not right for us at this time.
