Well, I mean, one thing about my radio show that everybody loved the show, but it was always a really hard show to affiliate.
It was always a really hard show to sell.
It was always a struggle.
And by that point, I was getting offered these little pilots and acting jobs above and beyond the radio gig.
So I thought, I can make this my future.
But I got to do something on the air.
And by this time, guys that I knew like...
Well, there were cats that I knew in the comedy business that were already starting to podcast.
I thought, I'll do that.
I can set a studio up in my house.
So it was just kind of like saying, I don't want to stop being creative, and this is going to allow me to be creative.
Make money and do whatever the hell I want to do, you know?
And the only restriction is somebody saying, you suck, I don't want to buy your podcast, as opposed to someone saying, don't do that, Phil, because our advertisers, this or that.
I think a lot of guys on the radio are angry at the industry for a lot of reasons, but I believe...
management, and I'm talking industry-wide now, as much as I love a lot of the cats that I worked for, okay, and I'm not blaming all of them individually, but I am saying that management, ownership, the people that ran our business ran it right into the ground.
They didn't show any courage.
They didn't show any real individual creative instinct.
They didn't know how to sell.
Especially my show, they couldn't sell it.
They couldn't affiliate.
