was them thinking I was some kind of weed-smoking, dope, stupid, jive-ass comic guy that leaves the station, goes and have drinks at the bar, and goes with his girlfriend.

I worked my ass off.

I was a professional.

I won't say who, because I had a GM bring me into his office one day and say, people are saying you're getting stoned before the show.

I said, you tell me who that is, because I'm A, I'm going to go to the union right now.

B, I'm going to call my attorney.

Well, you never saw a guy shit his pants quicker.

Because GMs coming up when I was a kid, they pushed you around and just told you how it was going to be.

And by that point in my career, I wasn't going to take that shit, especially saying somebody I'm using drugs.

I didn't so much as have a drink the same day I was doing a show, you know.

I was a total professional all the way through, but because I was such a weird ass, some dude on a sales staff someplace said, Henry must be smoking dope or something.

He must be taking drugs.

And this fucking general manager listened to that, got baited by that, and asked me, are you using drugs?

I said, not only am I not using drugs, I'm going to insist that that son of a bitch apologize to me now, or I'm taking this to the goddamn union.

And he did.

I couldn't control anything I was doing on drugs.

Maybe you being on drugs, that would have been a more entertaining thing to listen to.
