When I was coming up in radio, if anybody said, my buddy Phil's in radio, I'd always tell him, shut up.

Otherwise, they're going to start listening to me, and I suck.

From 1973, when I was 20 years of age, all the way up until 1990, I was just a disc jockey.

And I went from Orlando to Los Angeles.

I mean, I was doing all the right things.

I got to the L.A.

Mar.

I did Afternoon Drive and Album Rock Station.

Did Morning Drive and Album Rock Station.

But, you know, dude, I was just like playing the hits and doing stupid things like, hey, it's a payday in L.A.

And don't forget, we have those Rolling Stone tickets.

So I was doing everything that you were supposed to do.

Everything that sounded good.

And I had all the DJs that I listened to were in my mind as my role models.

But it all just really sucked because I wasn't being Phil Henry.
