I want to be like them.
So I'd act out in class, and then the healthy alternative to getting thrown out of your classroom is to channel that into the school plays after school.
And I was a very big star in school, in high school.
Very big star.
So big that everyone encouraged me to go to theater school for college.
And I was then a big star at Hofstra University.
And then I moved into New York City, and no one had called New York to tell them what a big star I was in high school.
A lot of other kids, they were interested in maybe acting and singing.
And funny wasn't part of their equation, but it was all of mine.
Exactly right.
I didn't realize it, but...
All of life is writing.
We're doing it now.
we're writing what we say before we say it.
Now, if we thought a little bit more, maybe it would come out better and we put it on paper.
But all of life is an improvisation and all of life is writing.
So you don't know that when you're a kid.
You're not self-aware like that.
But when I went to college, they made me take all these other disciplines.
My joke is, you know, they made me take all these courses I knew I would never use like English.
