Well, it seems that West took the job and the play he was in, and a lad named Bob Davis didn't like that.
Bob was set for the role before West came along.
Hardly a murder motive, Markham.

This Davis had a girlfriend, a beautiful blonde, from what Sergeant Heath tells me.
Her name is Jean Carrie.
And it seems that West did more than kick her around a little.
And you think that Bob Davis might have resented that.
I think Jean Carre resented that, Vance.
According to Heath, she's quite an excitable person.
She had a motive, and she is a blonde, you know.
Well, that factor isn't terribly important, Markham.
Some of the least murderous people I know are blondes.
Well, that's possible, of course.
The point I started to make was that Sergeant Heath has rounded up Miss Carey and is holding her at the apartment of the late Richard West.
He has also, as I understand it, notified B.J.
Adams, producer of the show West was in.
