Many, many years ago, a computer would fill half of a room.

and now it's in our hand.

We know that even when we started this discussion in 2000 in Loudoun County or 1996, the service that AOL, the MCI WorldCom used were much, much, much larger than the service used now.

The discussion is not whether we might need buildings, it's whether the equipment in the buildings becomes so much smaller that the buildings don't have to be so large.

That's going to be the discussion and then how we decommission those buildings.

One reason this was important to me and one thing we talked about is because this might be 30 years out, but if you think about it,

We're dealing with things today that happened 26 years ago.

And I'm not absolutely not saying anything.

I mean, 26 years ago, they just didn't know.

So there's no blame.

But if they could have looked around the corner 26 years from now, from where they were, we wouldn't be here right now.

What we're doing right now is looking around that corner for years from now to say, will these buildings be needed and if not, how would they not be needed?

Everything that I have been looking at and studying and starting to talk to some constituents about is soil restoration.

We do not know what is going to, what is happening with the soil that these data centers are sitting on.

The data centers themselves really are, they're not that hard to come down the buildings, but there could be lots of issues with soil.

So what does soil restoration look like when that happens?

And so, and that may not even be just for decommissioning, that may be something we study when they start to come back and ask for redevelopments, which I imagine some of them will start to do that fairly soon.

Soil restoration is going to be vitally, vitally important.

The other thing that's going to be vitally important to always study is water.

So all these things is a look into a future where we're not gonna be on this dais, but someone is.
