US stocks closed lower today, but the SNP five hundred still ended the week near records, after a boost from cooling inflation and gains for some AI related stocks.
The SP and the Dow both fell roughly 0.2%, and the NASDAQ lost about 0.3%.
Oil prices rose more than one percent after reports that at least one tanker came under attack trying to leave the Persian Gulf.
Among individual companies, Inventure stock plunged fifty five percent after the company withdrew guidance for its data center liquid cooling business, citing dynamics in the AI infrastructure market.
The semiconductor equipment maker Applied Materials reported higher third quarter net income and increased revenue, but failed to impress investors.
Shares fell five percent.
And Reddit stock jumped ahead of the social media company, joining the SP 500 next Tuesday.
Shares rose more than 12.5%.
