But a lot of teams around the league are keeping a close eye on where that's headed for Zach Wierenski.

He has not officially asked for a trade.

I think that's important to note.

But...

There are certainly indications that him and his camp, his agent, John Moldova, are having conversations about what the future looks like.

He's got two years left on his deal.

You know, this certainly could be a thing that plays out over another 12 months because he has two years on his deal.

But I think it's certainly very possible that at some point before the end of the summer that it's communicated maybe to Columbus that, hey, we're still going to play hard here, but we don't think we're going to sign an extension.

So take that information for what it is.

And so that's why so many teams are keeping an eye on it, because, I mean, that would be quite a quite an auction in terms of how many teams would want to get in on Zach Wierenski.

I mean, I wrote about this today in The Athletic.

I mean, I think you guys touched on a lot of the key points.

It's so dangerous to just generalize and say this is a symptom because I think there are a lot of unique situations.

I think if you're going to find one overlapping theme in all this is that all the players in the league want to go to teams that win all the time or have a chance of winning all the time.

And yes, it happens to be a lot of them are also in no state income tax states and often warm weather.

But I'll say this.

I know today I was talking to an agent who said that he was surprised to hear from his client that his client wanted Montreal added to his list of places where he wanted to go play.

So Montreal now is changing their perception around the league because now they've had a deep run, they're young, they look like they have a good future.
