I mean, Keith Pelley had a lot to say.
Now, whether or not you're sure what to make the sum of it or what it's going to amount to, we'll see.
But it wasn't reading off cue cards for the most part, which I think was notable.
You know, a couple of takeaways.
One where he said, you know, based on foundational pieces he feels the team still has, he favors a retool versus the rebuild.
But he did say he'll leave it up to the person running up hockey ops to ultimately make that call.
Listen, that's noteworthy for obvious reasons.
But, you know, and I've heard from potential candidates who may want to throw their name in the ring.
that they might want to favor a rebuild.
And so there are people listening to that news conference today that might be people who want to throw their name in the ring and that we're trying to get some early cues on what they might be walking into if they get that call from MLSC.
So that part's interesting.
I think it's pretty clear that we're headed for multiple hires, which is noteworthy.
Keith Pelley referred to head of hockey ops pretty often as opposed to just saying GM, which I think probably means we're heading for a president of hockey ops and a GM.
Not 100%, but when I asked him that, he was certainly ready for me.
He broke down how many teams in the league only had a GM versus president of hockey and GM versus the two different gigs.
He had all the data right in front of him when I asked him about the potential structure of the Leafs.
I still think when you listened to him today, it sounded to me like multiple hires, which, frankly, is the way to go.
I mean, I think it was a mistake not to replace Brendan Shanahan last year.
Yeah, I mean, oh, I mean, I would say this.
I mean, he certainly doesn't seem to want to close any doors, which is what you want.
