And then all of a sudden there was all these Irish bands releasing all this music and places like the Bagot Inn and McGonagall's and the Underground and all these incredible venues that you just wanted to get to.

And I guess it was a bit like you didn't even know who'd be on in some of these places some of the times.

You just wanted to see who was on and see what was happening.

And that was a big...

escape for me, you know, getting into those years.

And by the time I was 16, I'd left school and wanted to start working around that industry.

I got working in lighting and... Why did you leave school?

Because I was terrible at it for a number of reasons.

I didn't take to the atmosphere or the environment of it.

I didn't realise then, I suppose...

ADHD and all that and that I couldn't sit down and think I had to move and think I also think I was in a school that at the time they thought we were an inconvenience rather than people that were they would like to help or teach you know that might be harsh but that was my opinion that was a lot of schools back then in fairness less enlightened times about

And, you know, people who were, I don't know, there was just, there seemed to be two classes that were really looked after and then three classes that were isolated.

So you got out and you went working in lighting?

And they were doing some tiny show, but they'd be like, oh, we need lights because we want to look great, you know.

And there'd be four lads who were just together for about three months.

And they were like, how much does it cost for four coloured lights and a strobe and a smoke machine?

And we'd put the little orders together for them and give it to them.

You might end up at the show that night.

You might be one of about 10 people at it, but they had the night of their lives.
