And listen to this.
Now, if you're thinking, well, why did they present Tyson in a way that isn't entirely accurate?
Now, to me...
It's because it made a better story when they then decided to match in with not just a woman who has a successful career, but a woman who is at the top of her game.
What do you do and how much do you make?
How hard is it to get up to like a $680,000 salary?
So married at first sight bosses, knowing Tyson wasn't really as successful as they're making him out to be.
and also knowing he believes his partner must be a stay-at-home wife and submissive.
They then match him with someone they know will make him feel emasculated from the very start.
And they also know that that fact of how much more successful Stephanie is than him is only going to make him go harder and harder
pushing his views on her and on this show in a way that he feels he has to so he can get the upper hand, the control and like, you know, stay in that traditional male role he so desperately wants in a relationship.
Which to me, feels a bit irresponsible.
Like we know how this show matches people to Clash, but this here is taking two people at opposite extremes and throwing them in a pressure cooker and just hoping for an explosion.
Now, it wasn't just Tyson's career which may have been skewed a little bit, but the story of his first marriage too, which he first mentioned this way during his backstory.
Now, according to Tyson, they broke up because essentially she was messy around the house.
And remember, him saying that after talking about how he needs a submissive stay-at-home wife, essentially he's saying, we broke up because she didn't meet the standards of what I expect from a woman and the roles she must undertake at home.
Also notice how he mentioned there that his ex-wife was from Utah.
And in his written backstory, married at first sight added another fact about her, and that was that his ex-wife was also Mormon.
Which to me at least, they included solely to strengthen this idea that Tyson, he's always had such traditional values, which is proven by the fact he was previously married to someone who is Mormon, you know, where people...
In that community, they're known for embracing those traditional gender roles within a relationship.
