How can you lead the world without the best education system in the world? Instead of doing away with Department of Education. How the hell can you lead the world without having the strongest environmental protections in the world?
How can you lead the world if you don't have the best infrastructure? And if we don't lead the world, who does? Who does? The rest of the world's looking to us. They're looking to us.
I kept my word that when I said I was going to do something, I did. And that my focus has always been about how to give ordinary people a shot. You've probably heard me say it before. My dad used to say, Joey, a job is about a lot more than a paycheck. It's about your dignity. It's about respect. It's about being able to look your kid in the eye and say, I'm just going to be okay and mean it.
It's about being able to be yourself and focus on people who need some help. And the vast majority of American people, all they want is a chance, just a chance, and they'll do fine.

James Comer, Jim Jordan, Jason Smith, and their colleagues have distorted the facts by cherry picking lines from a bank statement, manipulating texts I sent, editing the testimony of my friends and former business partners, and misstating personal information that was stolen from me. There is no fairness or decency in what these Republicans are doing.
They have lied over and over about every aspect of my personal and professional life, so much so that their lies have become the false facts believed by too many people. No matter how many times it is debunked, they continue to insist that my father's support of Ukraine against Russia is the result of a non-existent bribe. They displayed naked photos of me during an oversight hearing.
And they have taken the light of my dad's love, the light of my dad's love for me and presented it as darkness. They have no shame. These same committee chairmen have engaged in unprecedented political interference in what would have already been a five-year investigation of me.
Yet, here I am, Mr. Chairman, taking up your offer when you said we can bring these people in for depositions or committee hearings, whichever they choose. Well, I've chosen. I am here to testify at a public hearing today to answer any of the committee's legitimate questions. Republicans do not want
an open process where Americans can see their tactics, expose their baseless inquiry, or hear what I have to say.
Will you yield for a question?
Today, I have some good news report from the Middle East. I just spoke with the Prime Minister of Israel and Lebanon. I'm pleased to announce that their governments have accepted the United States proposal to end the devastating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
That's why I directed my team to work with the governments of Israel and Lebanon to forge a ceasefire. to bring a conflict between Israel and Hezbollah to a close. Under the deal reached today, effective at 4 a.m. tomorrow local time, the fighting across the Lebanese-Israeli border will end. Will end. This is designed to be a permanent cessation of hostilities.
What is left of Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations will not be allowed. I emphasize, will not be allowed to threaten the security of Israel again.
Just as the Lebanese people deserve a future of security and prosperity, so do the people of Gaza. They too deserve an end to the fighting and displacement. The people of Gaza have been through hell. Their world is absolutely shattered. Far too many civilians in Gaza have suffered far too much. And Hamas has refused for months and months to negotiate a good faith ceasefire and a hostage deal.
And so now Hamas has a choice to make. Their only way out is to release the hostages, including American citizens, which they hold. In the process, bring an end to the fighting which would make possible a surge of humanitarian relief Over the coming days, the United States will make another push, with Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Israel, and others, to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
With the hostages released and the end of the war without Hamas in power, that becomes possible. As for the broader Middle East region, today's announcement brings us closer to realizing the affirmative agenda that I've been pushing forward during my entire presidency, a vision
for the future of the Middle East, where it's at peace and prosperous and integrated across borders, a future where Palestinians have a state of their own, one that fulfills its people's legitimate aspirations, one that cannot threaten Israel or harbor terrorist groups with backing from Iran, a future where Israelis and Palestinians enjoy equal measures of security,
