Because they, at the right moment, they didn't have to.

And they never built it.

It's just like I read about butterflies emerging from the chrysalis.

They have to struggle.

If you help them, they'll die.

Because the struggle...

Well, the struggle forces their lymphatic or blood fluids or whatever it is, their hydraulics, basically.

It forces the fluids through the chambers in their wings and their torsos.

And if they're not struggling, then they're not forcing those fluids.

You crack that open for them, they'll never fly.

I thought, man, that's so counterintuitive and so essential.

And we have this whole set of people who are moving through time who maybe suffer that fate.

And I fear for them and I fear for their futures.

When I've got a student who can't send me a message saying they don't understand that assignment without using an AI to formulate the message, that's a real challenge.

So this whole conversation about, hey, let's show people open source software as an alternative, as a counterbalance to this, it feels very counterculture to put it this way, but we might be saving some people's lives.

I'm on the exact same page with you on this.

And my metaphor I've been kind of working with to describe this is being an electrician.

So I'm competent enough to change a light bulb.

And if I have to, I can change a bad wall socket in my house, but with some risk.

But if I needed to change the main panel in my house, that's an incredibly complicated thing that has significant safety risk.
