and it makes me think of cloud when uh cloud computing first came out all these uh all the enterprises started just rushing to cloud because oh well we can we we can
eliminate our capital investment.
We can get rid of our data center.
We can lower our headcount.
We can lower our electricity.
We can reduce and remove our lifecycle replacement costs.
We can increase our resilience and increase our flexibility, and we're going to save money.
And then the cloud bill came in.
And they're like, holy smokes, cloud is so much more expensive than being on-prem.
And it turns out it's not that easy answer.
It's not like, oh, it's just better because.
It's better if.
If you build an application that's cloud native and built for resilience and built for efficiency, you can cause a business function to happen cheaper than if you did it in your own data center where you're paying for power, power pipe ping and all that.
but you can't run the enterprise cheaper if you just lift and shift it so there's this huge lesson that was learned about cloud we have failed to learn that lesson about ai yet well i don't know if you saw the story it actually came out uh as we're talking right now i think it was two days ago
So probably very quietly, very quietly.
That's the big story.
Yes.
Under the story is for a large corporation, what's the big hit on them?
on on the cost is labor labor and especially labor of highly compensated highly technical highly skilled people like software developers people that can get another good job relatively easily yeah so if we reduce head count and i've been through in my in my corporate life before before i was full-time faculty i was i worked in defense and federal contracting for 30 years for for some very large companies and i've been through more than one
what if drill on what if we reduced our head count by 10%?
