So enforcement...

It's a carrot and stick approach.

So you need the diversion and you need the community policing.

You need all those elements, but you also need enforcement.

And there are issues around pursuit for the Gardaí, both with scramblers and with e-scooters.

If we look at where the legal situation at the moment, the legal limit is 20k individuals.

it is, they're being marketed to under-16s who are not legally supposed to be using them.

The rules only apply to public roads.

Now, we're not seeing those rules being enforced right now.

So, it would be interesting, and I suppose the flip side of this, Clare, for my, and we don't know who's using e-scooters, we don't really have that in evidence, but what I see around, so I live in an urban area, a lot of the time at night, it's low-paid migrant workers I see who are coming home on e-scooters when the public transport isn't

So there is a potential, but even with them, I think there are issues around speed and around visibility.

So, you know, the ban is the easy solution, but you have to look at the potential negative impacts, given the fact that we still have public transport infrastructure that is patchy.

The evidence is that, like, enforcement with a good public communication campaign, we've seen it with cycling, does actually help.

This was conflict with solicitors over the criminal legal aid scheme and a looming conflict, I think, over the civil legal aid scheme as well.

To be fair, I think it has to be said that there's been a recognition in the department and on the Law Society side that something needs to be done about legal aid for a long time, that the problem has been figuring out the solution.
