Well, I'm arrogant enough to think that maybe I was doing you a favor by coming on, but it seems it's the other way around.

I've spent the last two years in monk mode writing my first novel.

And writing a novel is different to anything else you'll ever do.

You need to isolate yourself from the world.

And I got up in Byron Bay where you can imagine I haven't got many friends.

And I just locked myself away, walked, did gym exercise, and wrote a novel.

And that was it.

And so you're right.

My following is pretty pitiful.

But look, like you, I didn't get along with my stepfather.

He liked to drink and give you a bit of a beating.

So I left school at 17, four days, halfway through year 11, joined the Royal Australian Air Force.

And look, like you, I probably would recommend it to every kid out there who's not sure what they want to do with their lives.

And I wanted to get out of a bad home.

My first paycheck was my RAF paycheck out here at Edinburgh in South Australia.

RAF Edinburgh, where the Orion's were based.

North of Adelaide.
