Yes, this is what's called Mycenaean palatial civilization.
That's because conurbations were built around a central palace.
It's a highly feudal structure with top-down monarchical rule.
Large bureaucracies, they have their own alphabet, which we call Linear B, which was not phonetic.
It was sort of dots and things.
But they didn't use it, sadly, for literature.
They used it for inventories.
And some of those inventories include large numbers of sailors' names to sail off to Samos or somewhere east.
