Has an electric eel ever caused someone to die?
We don't know.
I mean, the answer is perhaps.
So one thing we do know is that it would not be possible for the electrokeel to kill you in the same way that you might die from electrocution from something like an electric cable.
And the reason for that is that they have, although the voltages are very high, the amperage is quite low.
So one thing that very often happens is that electric eels are blamed unfairly for people dying.
So I worked in the Brazilian Amazon for seven or eight years, and people drown all the time in the Amazon, sadly.
Sometimes electric eels get involved in embellishing stories.
So if somebody will drown, then the story will get out that there was an electric eel around.
And then before you know it, there's a sort of elaborate story of how someone died with swarms of electric eels all over them.
And most of these things are fabricated or just stories that got embellished with time.

single medically documented case of somebody dying from electrocution by electric eel.
