My name is Rabbi Lizzie Heidemann.
I'm from a synagogue on the north side called Mishkan Chicago.
I am truly in awe of the work of this organization, its leaders past and present.
Thank you for the opportunity to be with you this morning in prayer and in purpose.
I want to ask us to take a moment and pray for the health and vitality of the Reverend Jesse Jackson.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I hear a little bit of applause.
Let that applause be prayer.
Let him hear it.
I want to ask for the health and vitality of his wife, who I heard speak just this past Friday at the mayor's breakfast, and she brought the house down five stars, no notes.
She's a powerhouse.
I want to ask for the health and success of all the reverend's kids and grandkids who are walking in his light, each in their own way toward a more equitable country.
at such a moment of need.
And I want to ask for the health and success of all the people in this room and especially honorees, the trailblazers and pathfinders all across this city who roll up their sleeves every day to do the often thankless and unsexy work of fire tending from each of their own corners to build the beloved community everywhere.
Now, knowing that we have some incredible speakers this morning,
