Honestly, till this.
the literature classes I took in my college we didn't focus on on Sylvia Plath.
I wasn't taking poetry classes.
Or poetry was part of the curriculum.
Yeah, well it was a theater and com major.
I was a double major in media studies, a lot of Marshall McLuhan and and all that.
For some reason also the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory featured a lot.
I think how uh the shaping of the modern disaster.
But anyway, that meant that I was looking at Plath independently at that point.
And then not until we decided to really dig in for the drunken odyssey did I start looking at it again with um a slightly less passive eye.

Oh, and then of course there's Daddy.
That one we did here, that was one of her famous ones.
That was uh
You know, every angry young person wanting to scream that to an open mic, I don't mean to sound flippant, but that was the one that when I started doing slam poetry and a lot of uh, you know, feminist poetry circles, this was the one that kind of was brought up by certain poets.
Oh, suburban.
Uh that sounds so unkind.
But someone who had maybe been in a more comfortable surrounding, but then taking a look at their life and
Finding the failures and I think Sylvia Plath is someone who looked around at her life and saw where it was wanting, where she had been wanting, and and and honestly what what young woman couldn't relate to that.
