They work Monday night to Thursday at noon, and they go on recess, you know, for weeks.
They don't stay in Washington and do this work.
And what we are talking about doing, a true deliberative environment where you are dealing with an obstructive minority, like you are with the Democrats, it takes work.
And these senators simply do not want to do it.
So, can John Thune, as leader—

Honestly, it's the entire Republican conference outside of a few doesn't want to put in the work.
Well, it's that his conference does not want to do another voterama before the midterms.
And if people are familiar with this process, it's an unlimited amendment process in the Senate.
Now, debate is limited under reconciliation, but amending is not.
So ironically, the objection to the talking filibuster is, oh my gosh, they can offer unlimited amendments.
Well, every budget resolution and every reconciliation vehicle also comes with an unlimited amendment process.
