So you want to be spending time on things like hobbies or volunteer efforts.
There's also this idea that you could maybe spend that time doing errands, all the logistical stuff of being an adult, you know, that needs to be done that we often spend our weekends doing, and that can free up more time on weekends for us to just, like, be happy and do things we actually enjoy.
A chunk of them say that there is no amount of money that would prompt them to go back to five days a week.
Overall, people have been happy.
And I think many people and bosses feel like folks have been productive.
I think some of the research coming out of that shows that, you know, these are people who hadn't really thought about doing a four-day workweek and were really surprised to find how much they liked it.
Yeah, this is where this can totally go wrong.
Maybe you go down to part-time, you take a big cut to your pay, and still every Friday you're logging on because you've demands from clients or coworkers that you just feel pressure to respond to.
There's also the sense, I think, that you miss out on promotions.
You miss out on key company decisions.
It can be really hard to make this work.
And with this story, I really wanted to delve into what this really felt like for people and all the benefits, but also all the downsides that folks maybe don't think about when they're just fantasizing about it.
How great their life would be, you know, if they worked less.
Exactly.
I mean, a lot of people don't work in jobs where you can do this, where there would be the opportunity to do this.
A lot of people cannot make ends meet if they're making less money.
J.R., I have to tell you, a decent chunk of folks that I talked to actually said they were making the same amount of money, especially if they kind of went toward freelance and contract work.
They were actually making more per hour being on their own.
But there's still a lot of risks and hidden costs, right?
