There is so much fracturedness.
There's so much pain.
There's so much suffering.
There's so much loss and there's so much opportunity.
Don't waste it.
Well, I don't think it's that I want everyone else to be where I am because I don't think it's actually possible.
But it's that I was excited to share something sad because I often feel that when I'm teaching about anything tied to Yiddishkeit, which is such a beautiful and soulful part of my life,
I feel a lot of pressure now because I'm always in a lot of pain of how do I give that over in a way that masks some of my pain?
And this was an opportunity to say, I can actually tell you the truth of the pain because that's what this day is about.
This day is about everybody tapping into what is your loss and the problem and the challenge of people sometimes just can't feel pain.
The Shulchan Aruch, which is like the code of Jewish law that was written in the 1500s by Yosef Karo, he puts down the idea of every single person should be troubled and disturbed about the destruction that has taken place to our people.
And the commentators say, but what if there are people who don't feel troubled or disturbed about the destruction?
And they sort of massage it in a certain way and they say,
okay, then be troubled and disturbed that you're not troubled and disturbed.
So I felt like being able to have this conversation with you and to admit that I'm in this constant pain, and yet I'm so hopeful and I'm so believing that somehow there will be repair.
I don't have that.
I don't have it yet.
The word yet for me is a very hopeful word.
So I try to say when people will ask if I could do certain things and I say, no, I can't do that.
And then I'm always trying to be very conscious of saying yet.
