Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I guess I would say that there's a lot of being a Christian that sounds very harsh, but is very safe.

I think of it like rock climbing.

Like there are just hard truths, but they're really screwed into the cliff face.

And a lot of people don't want to hear them.

Like you don't want to hear you have no hormonal right to freak out at people.

Those hard truths are what keep you safe and keep you alive.

Like those are such merciful things from the Lord.

And we tend to see it as like restrictive when it is actually just...

So kind of God, because the knowledge that you don't have to be controlled by your emotions is freedom.

The idea that whatever you feel has to—that means you have to go there.

Well, how fun is it to be in a black despair, right?

It's not—there's nothing good there.

And the freedom of saying that God has actually commanded us to not do that is—

means it's possible to not do that.

It's possible to be free of this.

So I just say, I mean, this is another thing.

It's just the basic Christian discipleship for life.

It's not something you want to spring on someone in their teen years.

But it is still true that what God said is true no matter how you're feeling.
