It's not something where we need to use paper-based or late-tech AAC and then move on to high-tech. podcast-host

What's so amazing about high-tech AAC is the auditory output. podcast-host

It's so powerful for our students to see an icon, touch it, and then hear the word. podcast-host

But I'm just here to say that we can start with high-tech AAC and be very successful. podcast-host

We don't have to prove that we now have earned our right to high-tech AAC. podcast-host

And if we know that's what we want for our students, we want a robust and podcast-host

AAC system for them. podcast-host

That's what our end goal is. podcast-host

Why would we not just start there if we could? podcast-host

And two, there was in the chat, I like to start with high tech that we use a lot in the room and the teachers are familiar with. podcast-host

And I feel like that's such a great consideration when we're thinking about what are we choosing. podcast-host

And I put that so high on my list just because we know that getting people to buy in, to become familiar with, to understand how to model on a device is podcast-host

We know that if it's a device that they're familiar with, if it's a system they've seen, if it's a system that another student in the classroom has, can we start with that? podcast-host

And then if it's not the right system because this student needs some other feature, then we pivot and we can adapt as we need to. podcast-host

But we know that we're more likely to get that buy-in if we have something that's familiar. podcast-host
