And in terms of when you speak about that well-executed penalty,
How do we prepare players to take that in a pressure situation?
Because you ask someone to take that at the start of training, you know, when it's just the coaches and the team around and they might nail nine out of 10.
And then when you try and replicate that high pressure situation, is in a penalty shootout situation, is your mental strength, is it far more important than the actual technical skill you have?
It's really interesting what you say about you usually have your teammates behind you, but now all of a sudden you're standing up on your own.
And I know you've spoken even on News Talk before about cohesion and
team communication as opposed to individuality when it comes to penalties obviously you only have the one player but do you think it's important for teams to practice taking penalties as a team because like you said if you're just there practicing your own spot kicks it's different like you need to be in it together
And from a goalkeeper's point of view, then you said they can focus on the threats.
Is it really important for you as a keeper to make yourself as much of a threat as possible?
I mean, the mind games you see in penalty shootouts are crazy, but do you think they're effective?
Yeah.
In terms of this Irish team now and any other team that has lost in a high pressure situation to penalties, what would your approach be to make sure that because it's so likely that this would happen again and it could happen in the Euros.
Do you talk through this entire situation and say, look, this is what happened.
This is what we need to work on.
Or how does that approach go to make sure there's no like PTSD for want of a better word?
And I suppose finally, if I just, in terms of this specific playing group, there was a lot of talk on why the game on Tuesday night in Dublin might have been pointless because it was just a friendly and why make these two teams play after they've been knocked out of the World Cup.
But do you think it's good for them to have gotten to, got together and played in front of the crowd again?
So that's it, you know, it's better to do it almost immediately than have to wait another couple of months.
Well, Aoife, thank you so much for that.
Very enlightening.
