creating a space to really deeply listen to a patient's family.

Um and so this patient's uh family said to me, Dr.

Brunecki, I just don't understand why we need to intubate this pati or you know, her right now.

I don't understand that.

And

And so that really led me to sort of dive in and think about it together with the E D and

Um that patient never actually ended up getting intubated and it's hopefully getting discharged soon.

Um, that's been

a real lesson to me and and I think the other piece of that story that I like is

I think when you're working with a new group, instead of trying to tell them what you can do, you have to kind of show it, right?

So you show, not tell.

And so that that patient where I think we were helpful in the emergency group department.

uh attending sort of

felt like it was very useful and then sort of communicated that to the rest of their group.

So I think um that's one lesson for me.

I think that's the best way to sort of get in um and get sort of recognized.

And at the same time, I'm still hearing that you know there's still really difficult situations where

They feel like they can use even more help.
