Colleagues, it's my great honor today to recognize KTSF Channel 26 for 50 years of outstanding broadcasting, news reporting, and services to the Asian American community.
With their first podcast on September 4, 1976 in San Francisco, KTSF started their journey of becoming a pioneer of multi-ethnic and Asian language programming in the United States.
KTSF launched the first nightly live Cantonese news podcast in the United States in 1989 and added Mandarin live programming in 1991.
For generations of Chinese-American families, these lightning podcasts have been a vital connection to local news, community issues, and international events.
KTSF is more than a news outlet.
It has become a trusted community partner that new immigrants and longtime residents can rely on navigating life in the Bay Area.
They have continued to provide news, public information, and community services in diverse language familiar to our Asian American communities.
As we celebrate this milestone, we also recognize the tireless journalists, podcasters, staff, community members who give our communities an outlet for our stories and support immigrant community and families to participate fully in civic life.
Congratulations KTSF for your 50th anniversary and thank you for your leadership, your services in providing accessible, multilingual media to our communities, reflecting San Francisco's value of inclusivity and community engagement.

I just wanted to say, as someone who has spent most of my career working with journalists, one thing that I've really come to appreciate is how important the Fourth Estate is.
