Uh uh

It's a roadblock, you know, in the sense that GPs often have thousands of patients who want to be vaccinated and

They can't vaccinate them because they d they they don't have enough vaccine.

Yeah, yeah.

And we need to really enable GPs.

I think in the end we're gonna need the hubs and GPs fully enabled.

Because uh we've done some research, some separate research on flu vaccine, looking at where people get vaccinated.

Whether they get it at the pharmacy in the shopping centre or at the GP.

And there's a strong preference of people sort of over the age of fifty to sixty to be vaccinated by their GP.

Um so for older adults I think it's really important that they can be vaccinated by their GP.

Yeah, it was funded by the Australian Research Council.

We were doing a lot of work in Asia at the time and noticed that everyone was wearing cloth masks in the hospitals there and

None of the guidelines, not WHO, not any of the country guidelines even mentioned cloth masks.

And we thought, you know, that's a big gap in evidence, so we did an R C T and it's still the only R C T of cloth mask.

Um and it did show that by the intention

Treat analysis, which is you analyse each arm exactly as it was randomized, uh d no matter what people did in those actual arms, um, showed that the people in the cloth mask arm had a higher rate of infection than the surgical mask users and the control arm.

And of course no one paid much attention to that study because as I said the guidelines didn't even mention cloth masks until this pandemic.

Um and then um everyone started looking for evidence, particularly in the US when p uh healthcare workers ran out of PPE and were being asked to wear cloth masks at work in uh March and April.
