We can transition away from oil slowly over decades.

Striking that balance.

But yeah, the movable middle, we call them.

We can sway to the movable middle.

Again, they don't view it as A, that bad.

But it just gets so complicated to unpack because mostly it has to do with partisan politics.

Yeah.

So mostly if you're a Republican and you're a right winger, you view kind of scientists as being part of like academia.

And academia is bad because it's all a liberal conspiracy.

And the liberal conspiracy is to have increased government and have more legislation and a bigger government.

And if you're from the political right, you want less government.

And so anything having to do with mandates of how many miles per gallon cars should get and how we should use renewable resources and limiting coal mining and oil exploration, that's big government overreach.

So from a political point of view, climate change becomes the enemy because climate change necessitates kind of collective action.

and we're gonna need some kind of government or government coalitions to effectuate collective action.

So then it just becomes right versus left and it's unfortunate but we are gonna need legislation, we're gonna need countries to work together internationally, we're gonna need

collective action and we're gonna need some laws that that change things but you know we did it like I remember visiting LA in the 70s when I was a little kid we went to Disneyland and the air was like putrid it was like yellow it was like

I'm not kidding.

Damn.

The smog in LA in the 70s was so bad.
