He picked up two points, but you saw him go back a little conservative.
And then he started to open up more.
I remember Kevin Dean talking about how they wanted him to be okay with making mistakes.
And you started to see him open up his game.
I think by the end of the season, just the fatigue of playing a lot of minutes and playing top pair minutes,
similar as well.
There's a guy that played college hockey, Swedish Hockey League.
They're not used to this number of games.
So overall, I think all three of those defensemen that played consistently at the NHL level, those young players, there was this honeymoon period where it felt like everything was going well.
And then what happens is you start hitting that wall, whether it's fatigue, whether it's teams understanding what your limitations are.
And I'll go back to one game where they played the LA Kings and it felt like
after the first whistle of the first TV timeout, the LA Kings basically said, all right, you know what?
We're going to attack the young defenseman.
And I remember specifically they went after V Launder and they just kept attacking, attacking, and attacking that side on the four check.
And that's what you're going to get as a young defenseman.
So was coaching maybe part of it?
Yeah.
Did they understand the system entirely?
I don't think the Vancouver Canucks did at all, other than a couple of games, you know, here and there near the end of the season.
But I felt like also it was a, when you have young defensemen out there, essentially every shift, Jason, the other teams that are going to target you, they're going to attack that side.
