Lawmakers cheered after Governor Brian Kemp signed the 60-day suspension of the state's motor fuel tax that was quickly pushed through the legislature this week.
Like the rest of the nation, Georgia has seen gas prices jump since the war in Iran started.
According to AAA, regular unleaded has jumped more than $1 a gallon to $3.79.
It's been even worse for diesel, which has jumped from $3.61 a gallon to $5.25 a gallon.

Greene resigned in January after a falling out with Trump.
Republican Clay Fuller, a former district attorney, got the endorsement of Trump, who came to the district and rallied for him last month.
Fuller says the endorsement made a difference in helping him get the most votes among the Republicans on the ballot.
Fuller advances to an April 7 runoff against Democrat Sean Harris, who lost a green in 2024 by a 64% to 36% margin.
There will be a separate May primary and November general election to fill the congressional seat after January 2027 that features many of the same candidates including Fuller and Harris.

Vernon Jones is a longtime political figure in the Atlanta area, serving as the elected CEO of one of the state's biggest counties and as a Democratic state lawmaker.
Jones became a Republican in 2021 and has been one of Trump's higher-profile black surrogates.
In his campaign launch ad, Jones touts some of the same things Trump wants changed with elections and voting.
