And this reminded Leon of other stories he'd heard about other beings with gray skin and the ability to paralyze their enemies.
You know what we're talking about.
Aliens.
Aliens.
If Medusa was real, and if we can believe the legends about her, then she's long dead after being murdered by Perseus.
However, legend says her sisters, Steno and Urile, were immortal, meaning they might still walk the earth today.
And perhaps they might be responsible for some inexplicable cryptid sightings over the years.
Take this account from December 9th, 1815.
Historical records are vague, but it's said that a man named Captain Cleveland was sailing toward Gibraltar, near the same region where Medusa's cave was found in the year 2019.
As his ship got closer to shore, his crewmen reported seeing something in the water, but they weren't exactly sure what it was.
All they could say was that it was some kind of creature.
It was swimming alongside the boat about four feet deep, which was just close enough to the surface for them to make out its rough shape, but just far enough away that they couldn't make out the details.
The crew said it appeared to have long teeth or tusks like a boar, but the rest of its body looked long and snake-like.
Captain Cleveland ordered his men to steer closer to the animal so they could get a better look.
But as soon as the boat was pointed in the right direction, the thing swam away.
And no one could tell where it had gone.
Cleveland and his crew decided they'd just seen a sea serpent.
But they weren't confident since they never did get a good look at the thing, which may have been for the best.
If they really had spotted a gorgon in the water, they probably wouldn't have made it out alive to retell that tale.
Ultimately, we may never know if Medusa was a real living being or not.
