Listen to what Jesus said.

He said, "'Fear not him who has power to kill your body "'and afterwards do no more, "'but fear him who has power to kill your body "'and destroy your soul in hell.'"

And the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

And Proverbs says, through the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

And sinners will never let go of their darling sins until they fear God.

And so the fear of the Lord, for me, not only caused me to depart from sin, but keeps me free from the attraction of sin.

Because I know the eye of the Lord is in every place beholding the evil and the good.

There's a litmus test you can do with anyone.

And it sounds very trite and very simple.

But you just say to someone who says, yeah, I gave my life to Jesus when I was six.

And there's no fruit.

They're blaspheming God's name.

And you want to find out where they're at.

We all suspect where they're at.

So all you do is say to them, do you think you're a good person?

And they'll most certainly say, yeah.

Why?

Because they've never seen their own sinfulness.

They've never had that law applied to their conscience.

And so it's very important to find out where someone is so you can give the diagnosis, so you can give the cure.
