The only thing in my view that they really owed or owe Andrew McCutcheon is to tell him if they're moving on.
And they should be moving on.
But man, that sounds like the potential is there for Bob Nutting to step in and say, like the old Mike Tomlin thing, you'll decide how long you're staying here.
I don't know if that should be how it works in this situation.
I think the Pirates would be surprised, the front office that is.
that if they don't bring back Andrew McCutcheon, it won't be like some heartbreaker across the fan base.
I mean, maybe some people, sure, but it won't be like an overwhelming, I can't believe these guys, they didn't bring back Andrew McCutcheon.
We got three years of the reunion tour, okay?
And I get when bands do that, you know, I think the Rolling Stones have been on their last reunion tour since like the year I was born, and here we are 30 years later, and they're still rolling.
I don't think people would really be all that upset if Kutch doesn't come back.
For somebody at his age, sure, putting up okay-slash-decent numbers, somebody in his late 30s, really, really close to retirement,
But that's not really what the Pirates need.
I mean, if he wants to come back as some dude that's going to be on the bench a lot, you know, fill in as a DH, maybe play a game or two out in the field, that's one thing.
They should not have him as some sort of priority of, hey, we're bringing Kutch back again.
He's going to be back in the lineup every day or as many days as he possibly can.
Like, he should not be viewed as a starter.
And I also think there's a little bit of, I don't know if it's McCutcheon himself,
Maybe overvaluing because I did think Jason said something interesting to the guys yesterday that teams that are contenders right now probably aren't reaching out to Andrew McCutcheon because the thought is why doesn't Cutch want to perhaps chase a ring?
