We had the exhibit tracking system that was superseded by the PEM system that they have now at the moment.
But you're always aware of the fact that every exhibit needs to be a chain of custody.
It has to be continuity.
We had our forms for handing things over.
For instance, if you were working on an exhibit where a finger mark was developed and you had to give it to the photography section to photograph it.
back in the days when we still had film and not digital cameras, you're aware that everything that got handed from one person to the next person had to be handled properly.
And, you know, very, very often the only evidence that they have is the fingerprint evidence or whatever other from the Bureau, from the statistics guys.
And so, like, it's very important that we can stand over it and that it doesn't fall.
There's lots.
You know yourself.
There's like we've dealt with thousands of cases.
There's one I can think of straight away where it was more, I would describe it as a bit of luck that actually helped in the identification.
So there was a chap called David Dottie Douglas was murdered.
I think it was 2017, I think, in Dublin.
And the culprits fled in a getaway car, which they burnt alive.
And then got into another getaway car.
So that car was discovered over on the south side somewhere, Ringsend or Sandymount or somewhere out that direction.
And I wasn't at the original scene of the job.
I took over from somebody else.
So when I was examining it, I found a finger mark, a small finger mark on the inside handle on the rear passenger door, I think it was.
