My short comments are that the scarcity of parkland, a key component of our quality of life, is something we should preserve for future generations.
And just as we have lost our retail due to overzealous and overreaching housing laws, loss of local control, which wants every California city to look the same, be as dense, we really need to preserve the piece that makes Cupertino very special, which is our parks.
So we should make the measure simple and easy to understand, and I agree that we should also clean up our zoning, as Vice Mayor Chao is saying.
Once you lose it, you won't get it back, and so let's make sure we protect it.
I'd like to make a motion to continue that discussion.
To have the ballot measure, yes.
I would also like to explore whether we could include the Sports Center, the Senior Center, Quinlan, City Hall, Community Hall, and also the service yard to make sure those are protected.
