In those mid-2000s, like going into when I got involved in 2006 through to about 2011, I used to see he used to coach the pants off them.
Like really may be out there, do this, do that.
But he also used to coach the pants off the assistants.
And what I ended up seeing later on, about five, six years later when I went down there,
was the fact that he'd done such unbelievable work with the assistants.
He was writing the assistants as hard as he was writing the players.
And the moment the assistants understood what he wanted, Billy Ake, in that term, was able to take...
full step backwards and stand on the field like a conductor and just watch everything.
And if there was one thing he didn't like, he'd yell at one of the sisters, hey, hey, pull him into the line.
Like you could see some coaches drive players and their assistants mad with talking all the time.
Got to do this.

To understand him at that point, he carried a big, big stick.
And he wouldn't use it a lot, but when he used it, mate, he got a reaction.
But, Razman, you're right.
What happens is they go under.
And there's no doubt he tests them early.
I think there's a number of players that have gone down there over the years who people didn't know, haven't heard of, young guys coming through, that just didn't make that next cut.
