Bertha rolled through, did a little bit in terms of cooling things down, but it'll be pretty short-lived and it's pretty isolated as you can see from how hot things are in the Gulf right now.
So I was talking about that wind shear and it's so high right now across the Atlantic.
And it's high exactly where systems might be trying to get started.
And those tropical waves, basically everywhere that those tropical waves are, we've got a swath of high shear.
And it does relax a little bit over the weekend in the open Atlantic, but down where that more significant tropical wave is getting into Central America, that's where the shear remains really high.
Now, of course, wind shear is those upper level winds.
And since hurricanes and tropical systems rely on vertical development to strengthen, to stabilize,
form and when you have wind shear it just cuts off that ability to vertically develop with wind shear and also higher winds and drier conditions we've still got saharan dust and we love saharan dust here on tracking the tropics one because it's an indication that things are going to stay pretty quiet but this is pretty late in the season to see this type of saharan dust this is usually when it starts to wrap up and so we've got some a decent plume of dust out over the open atlantic right now and that is going to head towards the gulf over the next couple of days
enhancing our sunsets a little bit, drying us out a little bit as well.
It doesn't quite make it up to Tampa, but with the Bahamas, South Florida, all the way into Mexico and Cancun, enjoying that drier air.
We're actually in kind of a wetter weather pattern through the weekend, and so we'll have a lot of rain over the southeast, and so that's part of the reason that the dust doesn't really make it up there.
We've got a little bit of a pressure system right here that's
that and keeping it a little, the steering currents keeping it a little bit further south.
Meanwhile, looking out towards the east, look at this plume of Saharan dust coming off of the desert by the time Wednesday rolls around.
And so we know we're going to be quiet through at least next week with conditions like this.
That's all why the tropical developments are really quiet in the Atlantic right now.
We're moving from July where we see those kind of homegrown storms firing up close to the coast to our August development region is really out in the open Atlantic in that
belt line of tropical waves that float by.
And so that's what we're watching and that's what we're seeing.
But we'll have to see that shear relax.
