Sometimes it's kind of easy to sort of feel like,
You're sort of out of touch, right, especially maybe in the US or maybe in the UK or Europe where ChachiBT and Gemini are such big popular names.
They're not necessarily the same resonance other parts of the world.
There is a bit of a catch.
No, no, no.
Well, it's all about renewables.
So, for the first time ever, we have seen China's use of coal to create electricity down under 50%.
And we've never, ever seen that.
So, that's been for the first six months of this year.
Always seen that above 50%.
So, it's a sort of symbolic milestone.
But you do need to dig into numbers a little bit.
Because on the one hand, it is a big win for renewables in China.
And this has been a key aspiration for policymakers there for some time now.
In absolute terms, actually, coal is still being used.
I mean, that absolute number is still increasing.
And it is increasing partly linked to that AI story that we were talking about earlier, right?
The use for higher manufacturing, semiconductors, data centers and so on.
But it's also offset by the fact that the share of those sort of clean energy sources and renewables is growing at a faster pace.
