Large parts of Jamaica and Cuba are still in ruins a week after Hurricane Melissa swept through.
Dozens of people were killed across the Caribbean.
A new analysis by the climate risk modeling firm Karen Clark & Company finds the storm caused an estimated $2.4 billion of insured damage.
That includes damage to homes, businesses, and industrial sites in Jamaica and Cuba.
The full price tag for rebuilding will be even higher.
That estimate doesn't include damage to homes that don't have insurance or the cost of repairing public roads and other infrastructure.

On Wall Street, in pre-market trading, Dow futures are lower.
Category 5 hurricanes have extremely powerful winds, strong enough to knock down homes that are made of wood and rip off most roofs.
And Hurricane Melissa is also moving extremely slowly, which means it will linger over land, dumping huge amounts of rain.
The storm is expected to bring multiple feet of rain to some parts of Jamaica.
That's particularly dangerous because the island has hills and mountains.
When a large amount of rain falls in such an area, it can cause deadly flash flooding because the water picks up speed as it flows downhill.
Climate change makes large, rainy hurricanes like Melissa more likely.

The funds in question come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA.
