It was a very strong El Nino year.
They only had seven storms.
And so if we're hoping for some really quiet conditions, a quiet August would certainly indicate that we're most likely going to see those quieter conditions.
Take a look at the names that we've had so far.
We've only had Tropical Storm Arthur lasted less than 24 hours and Tropical Storm Bertha
Also didn't last very long or do much in terms of rainfall.
Even rainfall, we didn't get much from Bertholdt.
The rain was out over the Gulf.
And so we're a little behind average for us for this time of the year in terms of progression through these names.
And so normally we have our first named storm by June 20th.
We did that.
June, July 17th is typically when we have our second named storm.
We were a little behind on that with Bertha.
Our first hurricane is typically by August 11th, but since it's August 4th and we don't see anything in the forecastable future, it looks like we're going to miss out on this deadline, which is great, of course.
And our first major storm is usually here by September 1st.
And if we continue to trend as quietly as we are right now, we're going to miss these deadlines, which is great news for us.

All of the August hurricanes have been within 300 miles of Tampa since 1950.
And so you can see that we have had quite a few, but not on El Nino years.
