It was actually a very long, arduous process.
You know, I like to tell the story about how even the word advanced directive...
means, you know, there's many different words in many different Spanish-speaking countries.
And so even to come up with a word that would make sense on the website just took a long time.
So it wasn't a straight translation.
There was a lot of cultural adaptation that had to take place, sort of in the wording and things like that.

There was the John and Juana Harmon Foundation, Gordon Betty Moore Foundation,
Bechtel Foundation, Tideswell, lots of groups.
Yes, it was the same sort of setup.
One group got our easy to read advanced directive, either in English or Spanish.
And the other group got the easy to read advanced directive plus prepare in English or Spanish.
You know, I think because studies have shown that advanced care planning really can help people, we didn't feel like it was ethical to have a control group.
