My real entree into the Shrek world was middle school, Shrek the musical junior baby, wherein I played both the storybook elf and also I was.
Was like one of the narrators, and I said, Can I narrate as the elf?
And the director was like, You know what?
Sure, she made a choice.

So I was a storytelling elf, and let me tell you, Shrek the musical, fucking fantastic.
If you like musical theater and for some reason have not seen or listened to it, it is genuinely actually so funny for both children and adults alike.
It follows the movie pretty closely.
And the practical effects and costumes are absolutely hilarious.
There is a filmed pro shot of the original Broadway cast, which I highly recommend.
Christopher Sieber as Lord Farquad is like one of my favorite musical theater castings of all time.
So I'm a Shrek the musical girly.
That's really my entree into this world, as well as the Shrek is love, Shrek is life meme.
I unfortunately really remember that from middle school.
And I remember being like, oh okay, this is what Shrek culture is.
I'm not that interested.
That's crazy.
Like Shrek touched both the gamers and the theater kids.
Like that's kind of an accomplishment right there.
