We're trying to legislate to make agents of the federal government not carry out their assigned duties because the orders are coming from above, not necessarily that they want to do it, to be unmasked, to identify themselves as police officers do in cities, as sheriffs do in rural parts of the country.
uh to have transparency and accountability we're legislating so that we're trying to legislate we don't have a majority to stop the abuses because this is what authoritarian government looks like and it's coming perhaps to the group that you belong to tomorrow it's us today the question is who will be next
And we also know that Marines who participated in the occupation in Los Angeles, ordered by the president, we've learned that National Guard troops that have been mobilized thus far, they don't really want to do this.
I think that they're embarrassed.
What they're being told
to do.
It's a misuse and a disrespect to the folks in uniform.
It's a misuse of taxpayer dollars.
They are towing Donald Trump's line and they're afraid to stand up for the truth.
They may
confide in you privately but publicly they won't do it and they won't stand up in the u.s house of representatives or in committee because they're afraid because fear is overcoming america and our ability to stand up for the constitution to stand up for due process and for people's rights to
confide in government that they will be given an opportunity to present their side of the story.
Because Donald Trump has convinced enough people that
power can only emanate from him and with his permission.
It's a very sad day in America.
As one who took the oath of citizenship in 1979, this is my greatest disappointment in being an American.
He's telling us once again that he will try...
to consolidate all power in himself, and that anyone who stands up for the Constitution, for freedom of the press, freedom of expression, freedom of association, will become a target
And that should be a rallying cry for anyone who cares about America, for anyone who cares about the promise of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, our civil rights, the progress that we've made as a society in our 250-year history.
