Nice to meet you guys.
It's in southern Arizona, about an hour outside my district.
I represent Phoenix.
And it was my second visit.
And both times have been really, really heartbreaking.
um, good drinking water, the fact that they're getting used underwear and there's infections are rampant.
The fact, yeah, the fact that, I mean, it's, it's a full blown prison.
Um, and these women that I talked to, these people have no criminal record.
This is not a, you know, Donald Trump saying we're going after criminal.
They're asylum seekers, they're refugees or green card holders.
So this is a really important issue because the Republican budget that just passed before we went on recess gives billions of more dollars to ICE and to these private prison companies that are about to ramp up and quadruple detention center capacity across the country so Donald Trump can meet these insane quotas that he set.

When you have Stephen Miller running point on this mass deportation policy and all things immigration and national security, this is the outcome that you're going to get.
I don't expect with the Republicans that we have in Congress that we're going to see a change in the ambition level that they have in terms of meeting these quotas and rounding people up.
My aim, though, is to improve the conditions at the ICE detention facilities.
And people, you know, obviously this is just one detention facility.
There are so many around the entire country.
I think so because I wasn't expecting a prison.
