I mean, how is it that we lost across the board to the first convicted felon ever to run for president?
we've got to look ourselves in the mirror and be willing to change and when you look across the democratic party today the bright spark spots like all those winds on the east coast in november were next generation leaders and next generation leaders willing to challenge the party establishment but to your second question dom to don is about the what do we need to change we've got to learn some lessons here about how fragile our democracy actually is and
And we can hope against hope that we never have another Donald Trump because we hadn't really had one until this point.
But instead, we've got to be willing to make some reforms.
I certainly do not count on the Republicans to make any of those reforms.
But that means that when a Democrat is elected, hopefully in 2028,
that Democratic president, she or he is probably not going to want to give up one of the most awesome powers of the presidency, which is the power of presidential pardons.
Honestly, we've learned that Trump completely abuses that power.
He's made it totally corrupt.
And so it's important for Democrats to do the right thing for the country and probably
rein it in those are some of the tough choices for our democracy investing in the future being willing to change so that nothing like this ever happens again that democrats have to make because we have to lead in the absence of leadership from the republicans we have got to lead not just oppose trump although i think we can fight him harder but actually lead for the country
I do on a principled level because they're not playing by the traditional rules.
We can't just like hope that they do the right thing.
Right.
We've got to fight back.
And I would like to get to a point where we have mandatory retirements on a schedule for justices so that for presidents get to a point justices on a regular schedule.
It's not just.
due to the whims of who retires or who dies, which is how we got into this place with Trump.
But let's not also forget we've gotten to this place where he basically controls the courts, become partisan because of what Mitch McConnell did to Merrick Garland and just throwing out the rules that the Senate has followed for hundreds of years and changing those rules so that he could just force in Republican nominees to the court.
And we can't just take that sitting down.
