Where around that time, my parents were going through a divorce and the assault happened.

I watched my dad kind of battle with depression.

I started developing anxiety at work.

COVID then comes along and locks us indoors.

My dream job gets made redundant.

I go through a relationship breakup.

I go through friendship breakups.

I then start my business thinking that'll make things easier.

And then one day mum comes home and says, I've got thyroid cancer.

And I'm like, no, you don't.

Not right now.

That's too much.

Thankfully, mum's okay now.

But the hardest part of that was dad.

You mean telling dad?

Telling dad, yeah, yeah.

And the reason it was so hard to tell dad was because in this particular year, 2019, I get a call from mum one day and she says, Ruben, dad's in hospital.

He's come off his bike sprinting around Yarra Boulevard at 50 kilometres an hour and he's hit his head on the concrete.

And for months after that, it had a noticeable impact on his cognitive ability and his mental health.

We had to be quite patient with him.
