So if you're in a state
That you have, for example, they just did the ruling, the vote yesterday in South Carolina, where you have a state over 30 percent black.
They wanted to take out the only one black majority district, Jim Clyburn.
So that means that you would then chop up the black community and other little districts and there'd be no collective way for them to say this is a guy that represents our interests because we still deal with inequities in this country.
There's been one study that says we can lose 16 to 19 seats.
And I think that it's the challenge of our time because the fundamental advantages that we got out of the 1960s civil rights movement was the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act.
So here you have a year and a half into Trump's second term.
He's going after DEI, diversity, equity, and inclusion, which is the Civil Rights Act, making sure that people are diverse, not only in government, but in the private sector.
And that includes women, gays, and everyone.
Yeah.
And then the Voting Rights Act.
So it's almost like he's coming with a mandate that I'm going to reverse the civil rights and human rights wins of the 60s.
And there are those of us that have to resist that across racial and gender lines.
I think that, you know, I grew up in the civil rights movement.
I became youth director of the Economic Operation Breadbasket, Dr. King's organization.
A year that he died, Jesse Jackson appointed me.
I was a 12-year-old guy that went to rallies.
Then I was already a boy preacher.
And then at 13, he appointed me that in New York.
So I know a lot about the history because I was under the guys that did it.
